Greatham Parish Council

Budget for 2009-2010

Each year, Greatham Parish Council has to submit to East Hampshire District Council the details of the precept that it wishes to charge for the running of the Parish Council. The precept is provided to Greatham Parish Council directly from the Council Tax charged to the residents of the village.

The costs of running the Parish Council fall broadly into three areas :

The running costs for the council and the usual grants and donations can be estimated easily on the basis of previous years' costs, but the amount to budget for the specific project costs depend solely on what projects the residents of the village wish to undertake. In the past, the Parish Council has funded bus shelters and litter bins for the village and is currently financing the project to resolve the drainage problems at the playground.

So far, we have received a request from parishioners for a bus shelter for the village, to be located near to the school. We also discussed, at the Parish Council meeting on 3rd November 2008, a possible requirement for a bus shelter near the junction between the Petersfield Road and the Selborne Road.

The sorts of things the Parish Council can fund are listed in the powers of the Parish Council document (click here to view).

If you have any views on projects that you would like the Parish Council to consider budgeting for in next year's budget, please contact me by email to admin@greatham-hants.org.uk.

We'll also be discussing the draft budget for next year at the next Parish Council meeting on Monday 1st December 2008, so please come along to discuss your idea further.

Thanks,

Paul Larner
Councillor
Greatham Parish Council
